Subaru Radiators
Radiator Maintenance Isn’t Optional
Even in colder weather, your engine builds up heat that needs to be controlled. The radiator is responsible for keeping that heat in check so your vehicle stays reliable day after day. At Subaru Parts Exchange, we carry factory-original radiators made to match your Subaru exactly. They cool better, last longer, and avoid the common issues that come with generic replacements.
How the radiator works
Your radiator helps remove heat from the engine by cycling coolant through a network of thin tubes and fins. Once the air pulls that heat away, the coolant returns to absorb more. If the radiator clogs, leaks, or cracks, it can’t do its job—and your engine can overheat quickly. Models like the Legacy and WRX depend on a working radiator to perform their best every time the ignition turns on.
Why it fails and when to replace it
Most radiators wear down after about 100,000 miles, especially in stop-and-go traffic or high-heat regions. Over time, corrosion, road debris, or internal buildup can cause cracks or blockages. If you notice coolant puddles, a rising temp gauge, or a sweet smell under the hood, the radiator may be due for replacement. Genuine Subaru radiators offer a better fit and stronger materials than most aftermarket versions.
Don’t ignore your radiator cap
It’s smart to check your radiator cap whenever you service the cooling system. If it isn’t sealing correctly, the system can’t hold the pressure needed to operate safely. We carry both parts and can ship them fast.
